Cessation of correspondence

A long time ago in our sense of things, around fifty years ago and for a long time before that, was correspondence. Now there is instant communication anywhere on the planet, anywhere, anywhere, anywhere, except maybe the Everglades, or the Himalayas, or the forests of Guyana, especially near the waterfalls.

A freaky occurence happened, or happened a freaky occurence, I can't remember which, but anyway the result was that it all changed. At least it seemed it did. People still alive from that time said that even before it felt quite the same but everyone else was sure it was different. As different as LA is to one who hasn't had any need to go more than maybe 50 miles from his country home, and that was only once.

Time passes so slowly-quickly
I feel so healthy-sickly
feel like a cactus mellow
feel like a pillow prickly

I can't explain
the frame of reference is strained
It'll all just stay the same
til perspective is gained
I'm just sayin its plain what remains

some one sane must grind the grain
and be there to explain the stain
please refrain
from steppin with your muddy feet
on the carpet

steppin with your muddy feet, muddy feet
steppin with your muddy feet
on the carpet
steppin with your muddy feet, muddy feet
steppin with your muddy feet
on the carpet

lofty heights in the stratosphere
blast of stardust dont get near
or disappear into your fear
an example, no more beer

all yeast is dead
no more leavening no bread
resort to rot whisky instead
those were the days my friend turned red

She looks at me across the counter
more touch there than many hours
spent in pressured wondering stare
does she see what goes on there?

Probly seen it all before
what a bore must be a chore
victim of the focused beam
success ain't all that it seems

Eat your greens, drink your bread
what the world should be instead
very clear through gleaming glass
excercise and maybe fast
you might last until at last
the writ was wrote and graded passed

A finnish folk song or three (Finnish Medley)

Posted here for your pleasure are three traditional Finnish folk songs woven into one and wearing full metal garb, done by one of my favorite bands; Ensiferum:

The song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZKcyYKkwUA

Translation:Jo Karjalan kunnailla lehtii puu, // The tree is blooming on the fields of Karelia
jo Karjalan koivikot tuuhettuu. // The Karelian birches are getting thicker
Käki kukkuu siellä ja kevät on, // You cockoo is cockooing and it is spring
vie sinne mun kaihoni pohjaton. // Take my endless yearning there.

Ma tunnen vaaras' ja vuoristovyös // I feel your danger and your' mountain range.
ja kaskies' sauhut ja uinuvat yös' // and the smoke of your burnt land and your sleeping nights
ja synkkäin metsies' aarniopuut // and the primeval trees of your forest
ja siintävät salmes' ja vuonojen suut. // and your looming inlets and the mounths of the fjords.

Siell' usein matkani määrätöin // My journey is oft there without a goal
läpi metsien kulki ja näreikköin, // through forests went, bushes
Minä seisoin vaaroilla paljain päin, // I stood with a bare head on the hills
missä Karjalan kauniin eessäin näin. // where I saw the beautiful Karelia ahead of me

Terve, metsä, terve, vuori, // Hello, forest, hello, mountain
terve, metsän ruhtinas! // Hello, the prince of the forest
Täs on poikas uljas, nuori; // Here is a noble boy, young
esiin käy hän, voimaa täys, // He comes forward, full of power
kuin tuima tunturin tuuli. //as the severe wind of the fjeld

Metsän poika tahdon olla, // I want to be a son of the forest
sankar jylhän kuusiston, // hero of the gloomy spruce copse
Tapiolan vainiolla // on the fields of Tapiola
karhun kanssa painii lyön // I wrestle with the bear
ja mailma Unholaan jääköön. // And the world shall be forgotten

Ihana on täällä rauha, // The peace is here wonderful
urhea on taistelo: // Brave is the fighting
myrsky käy ja metsä pauhaa, // Storm is coming and forest thunders
tulta iskee pitkäinen // The fire strikes long
ja kuusi ryskyen kaatuu. // and a spruce falls down loudly

Translation by our hero that calls himself denizkizi, here is the original

Here are some non-metal versions:

Short history of the universe - A Dream

Short history of the universe

I went to sleep after a meditation where I purposely directed my thought in a certain direction. I meditated until I lost count, then when I got to that point, I injected the question:

Tell me how we came to be as we are now?

I went through those doors, slept, went where the conscience finally has a chance to sit one out.

I was then in an orbiting vessel, lots of big glass windows to look down at our earth

The alien was Exedore of the Zentraedi from Robotech, in the series he lived a long time because his spine was damaged and he couldn't do the one job available, war. he became valuable for having been around so long, and being able to remember. It didn't have to be him though, in the dream he plays the role of the tour guide, the narrator.

He told the history while I watced videos projected into my mind as if I was there, except edited. I could see the war from 'before'. there was a universe teeming with life 'before'. Before the last time all life was extinguisitd.

There were a few major races, yes some had the human configuration, but what difference?

They raced as fast as they could into technology, every race was threatened, it was dominate or perish. Weapons of war to tear open the fabric of reality.

The most tech savvy race, their name lost to history, created a planet sized robot being; a storehouse of all their learning, and they loaded it with all the samples of their discoveries. Only it would remember their name.

A Robot planet, sentient, more so than most of the organic life at the time. Jvh1 could learn, do its own research, and live essentially forever off of resources it could gather anywhere it chose to go.

There were laboratories inside it's self, it had probes it sent out to the distant specks to see what they were. It had armies of non thinking drones that kept it maintained.

It was the pinnacle of technology at the time of the last war, and it was the only thing that survived it.

Time passed. And passed. It floated out there, occupied with research and exploration for a time that we organic types wouldn't want to consider.

No one was alive in the known universe, and no evidence yet found of a multiverse.

Eventually, it made up it's mind that it should repopulate space, to the degree that it even felt responsibility for the task, a sort of patriotic sense of duty where the state is life itself.

Inside its labs it worked on two main projects. the first was a spore of life that could be placed on almost any planet and adapt. The second was a pre-designed race of hive minded creatures to take the spores to the distant reaches; these did not have the opportunity to adapt. We are a result of the first, the commonly reported 'communion' style aliens are of the second type.

In all of this was also a side experiment, to create perfect, or maybe to some 'holy' individual samples of life.

After some time the numbers started to come in, some planets never created a single holy being. We earth dwellers are lucky that our fertile planet created some 27 of these beings early in its existence. Because of this, the buzzing bees that were of the 2nd type previously mentioned were assigned to watch here for more, and even though we don't seem as promising now as we once did, this project has been given the 'green light' to continue.

Which is why we haven't been left to fall into the sun and we continue to survive today, the cartoon alien tells me.

Bad Karma Butterfly

Happened to a friend of mine on friday, he doesn't want to attach his name.

Transcribed by me as told by a friend.

I was riding back from lunch on a nice sunny day, It was 12:20, and had to get back by 12:30 so I was riding kind of fast, and I just smoked a bowl. I was on a nice street somewhere in Hollywood near my work. I had just finished a Dr Pepper and rolled by a trashcan and dropped it in, I kept riding..

I had a syrupy taste in my mouth and had to spit, so I turned my head to spit in the grass, as I spit, a butterfly flew up beside me and ran straight into the spit. He fell into the grass, flopped there covered by a big gob of syrupy spit of doctor pepper.

What are the chances? what would you do? would you go back and wash him off?

someone specific

sometimes a character is well drawn
and sometimes one is in color
in a black and white and blurred world

Like a vertigo scene in the movies
the elements coalesce
focus happens next

All these at once, good luck
a snarky comment
who gives a fuck?

but I don't want aesops grapes
I want to reach
and taste
